WHITE PLAINS, NY, July 15, 2010 -- Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore (left) announced today that Solomon Jesus Nasser (DOB 4/29/52) of 55 Winding Farm Road, Ardsley, New York plead guilty to:
• one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony.
Over a nearly three year period from July 2005 to March 2008, the defendant trolled internet dating sites such as Match.com and Plentyoffish.com looking for his victims.
He targeted established professional women and his larcenies were predicated on a series of lies which began when he first introduced himself to the victims through these websites.
His misrepresentations included that he:
• held a high level position with the Department of Defense,
• was an advisor to, and was in frequent communication with, President George W. Bush,
• had been an Admiral in the US Navy,
• worked for the CIA,
• commanded forces in Iraq,
• was on the Board of Directors of Sikorsky Helicopters,
• held over 80 patents,
• graduated with a Ph.D from MIT when he was 22,
• was a multi-millionaire who owned a jet,
• owned an estate in Greenwich, CT, a property in Ardsley, and property in California.
Soon after meeting the women he would explain to them he was currently in a dire financial state and that he and his ex-wife were in a contentious battle over child support or he had been sued -- either way the Court had frozen all his assets and he did not have money to live day-to-day.
He would convince the victims to "loan" him money for living expenses.
One victim gave him money in the form of cash and purchases on her credit cards totaling more than $114,600.
A second victim also gave him cash and purchased items for him on her credit card. The total larceny there was $24,764.51.
During the course of the prosecution a third victim came forward.
In addition the defendant failed to pay New York State Taxes with interest and penalties in the amount of $17,400.
Investigators from the Westchester County District Attorney’s office opened an investigation in April 2009 based on a complaint.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance assisted in the investigation of this case.
Sentencing will be on October 27th, 2010.
Judgment Orders of Restitution encompassing all victims will be issued at the time of sentencing in the total amount of $191,829.22.
Nasser faces a maximum of two and one third to seven years in state prison.
Assistant District Attorney Robert Mayes of the Investigations Division prosecuted the case.
