Yonkers, NY, August 19, 2010 -- Saint Joseph’s Medical Center (St. Joseph’s)(pictured) of Yonkers, New.York, today signed a contract to purchase St. Vincent’s HospitalWestchester of Harrison, New York, from Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers (Saint Vincent’s).

Landy (left) , Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center. “Once all of the approvals have been finalized, we look forward to supporting and sustaining the important mental health and chemical dependency services St. Vincent’s Westchester provides for the residents ofWestchester County and the New York City metropolitan area.“

Saint Joseph’s and Saint Vincent’s will begin working immediately to secure regulatory approvals and execute the transition of this program. Saint Vincent’s will submit the agreement to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern Districtof New York for approval. Saint Joseph’s is applying for approval for the transition by the NYS Department of Health, NYS Office for Mental Health, and NYS Office for Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
Founded by the Sisters of Charity, Saint Joseph’s is a not-for profit healthcare facility that has been serving the community from the same location on South Broadway in Yonkers since 1888.Saint Joseph’s provides a vast array of services for all ages, ranging from a children’s dental clinic and Family Health Center to a state-of-the-art Emergency Room and Ambulatory Surgery Center. Saint Joseph’s offers special expertise in geriatrics, primary care, emergency medicine, renal dialysis and mental health.
St. Vincent’s Westchester was founded in Harrison in 1879 by the Sisters of Charity, and provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency services for children, adolescents, adults and their families at its main campus in Harrison and at locations in White Plains, Tuckahoe and Port Chester. In addition, the hospital operates residential programs in Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Westchester, and opioid treatment services in Brooklyn, Queens and Westchester.
