Yonkers NY, August 31, 2010 -- Liam McLaughlin, Conservative and Republican Party candidate for the State Senate (SD35) today, “demanded a full accounting of all expenses by Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins for per diems, travel to and from Albany, and her district office.”
Liam McLaughlin said, "Today I am calling on Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins to release all detailed records for how she spent $72,000 in travel and $652,000 on office expenses in just 3 ½ years in office. The taxpayers deserve to see how these taxpayer dollars were spent and where the money went. It is clear to me and the people of the 35th Senatorial District that the mindset of Albany lawmakers is they have no concern for how they spend taxpayer dollars. When our state is facing such economic uncertainty, we need to elect lawmakers who spend taxpayer dollars as if it is their own money. The depiction in the Platinum Legislature series in the Journal News is proof that Albany lawmakers and Senator Stewart-Cousins spend public dollars like drunken sailors. It's time for Senator Stewart-Cousins to come clean to her constituents. Senator Stewart-Cousins and the elected leadership have shown no restraint in their personal spending on the taxpayers dime. It's time to have a full accounting for all spending that Senator Stewart-Cousins has made while in office. The people of Westchester deserve to know if their State Senator is being responsible in her role representing the 35th Senatorial District of New York."
