Greenburgh, NY, September 9, 2010 -- An “American Idol” like singing contest for those 50 plus is scheduled for Friday, October 1st, 2010. This year the event returns where it began, the Theodore D. Young Community Center in Greenburgh. The event provides an opportunity for 10 singers to compete for the title of 2010 Golden Idol. In contrast to the TV program judges will remain silent during performances. Golden Idol traditionally attracts a variety of talented singers who represent a wide range of musical genres. The audience is encouraged to participate in group sing alongs.
The event begins at 12:30pm Admission is free. People of all ages are invited to attend.
Those interested can also have lunch just prior to the event at 11:30am. Cost of lunch is $3.00 for those 60+, $5.00 for those under 60 years.
