Yonkers, NY -- September 15, 2010 -- It was on June 28, 2010, in the Hezitorial entitled “Yonkers City Hall Deceives City Agencies to Cover Up Mayor’s $800,000 Blunder BY Hezi Aris” in which we questioned the Yonkers Parking Authority’s (YPA) ability to manage their financial affairs. In the exploration of the subject matter we demanded proof of payment of the YPA for the six years in which Yonkers City Council Majority Leader Patricia McDow had parked her BMW at the Buena Vista Parking facility. Ms McDow’s car was devoid of license plates and a window decal stipulated the last inspection of the vehicle is six years overdue.
In a letter addressed to the editor, dated September 8, 2010, YPA Deputy Executive Director / CFO Joseph Dalli wrote the following:
“Re: Freedom of Information Law Request for information pertaining to Patricia McDow’s parked vehicle at the Buena Vista Parking Lot
“Dear Mr. Aris:
“Thank you for bringing the matter to my attention.
“I have concluded my review of the facts concerning the alleged parking/storage of a BMW sedan without license places and an expired registration in the Buena Vista parking structure. Although no prior invoices have been forwarded to the owner of the said vehicle, I am now in the process of calculating these costs and will be forwarding this bill to the owner for payment of these changes.”
A copy of Mr Dalli’s response to our publication was copied to William Regan, Chairman of the YPA, and to Mark Blanchard, City of Yonkers Corporate Counsel.
