Scarsdale, NY, October 2, 2010 -- The Greenville Community Church announces the second event in its 2010-2011 Recital Series, innovative performances of great music held in the sanctuary of Greenville Community Church, located at 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale, New York. Dr. Corazon Bisda, Music Director of the church, is Artistic Director of the Recital Series.
On Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 4:30 p.m., the series will present Giuseppe Spoletini, baritone, with Corazon Bisda, pianist, in a lively “Kids’ Cushion Concert,” an innovative program for toddlers, pre-schoolers and elementary school-age children, together with their families. The recital will feature songs drawn from many cross-over music worlds. Particular favorites are songs pertaining to Noah’s Ark and the animals of land, sea and sky, including Aaron Copland’s I Bought Me a Cat, and Cole Porter’s unforgettable The Tale of the Oyster. Children will be invited to join in the rousing chorus of Under the Sea, from “The Little Mermaid,” and to take part in I Just Can’t Wait to be King,” from Disney’s “The Lion King.”

Mr. Spoletini, Choir Director of Greenville Community Church, is well known to area audiences as a baritone who has performed widely on the American and Canadian opera and concert stage in such roles as the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Il Conte in Le Nozze di Figaro, Figaro in Il barbiere di Seviglia, Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, Escamillo in Carmen and Sulpice in The Daughter of the Regiment. He is a member of the vocal faculty of the Manhattan School Pre-College and co-director of its Musical Theater program (Pre-College and Summer Music Camp). Mr. Spoletini also teaches music at the Pierrepont School in Westport, Connecticut, and has developed the choral program at the school. His recordings include “Now Sings My Soul,” a gospel/inspirational CD, directed by renowned producer Nona Hendryx.
Corazon Bisda received her BM in piano and composition, with honors, from Santa Isabel College; her MM of Music in piano from Mannes College of Music and her DMA in piano from Manhattan School of Music. She has been featured as a distinguished pianist, chamber musician, accompanist, arranger and composer.
