The high winds kept the snow off the branches, so we had no major trees down and no one in Hastings lost power.

White Plains, NY -- At a special meeting on December 22nd, the White Plains Common Council passed a resolution expressing their lack of confidence in Mayor Adam Bradley and asked for his resignation. The meeting was called by Council Member David Buchwald and four other council members. Buchwald has been critical of the mayor since his arrests earlier this year and called him a convicted criminal at tonight’s meeting. It has also been questioned as to whether Buchwald is behind the anonymous RecallAdamBradley.com website. Each member of the Common Council was able to address the mayor giving his or her reasons for expressing the vote of no confidence. The lone no vote came form Councilman Dennis Power who read from a prepared statement charging that Mayor Bradley should be afforded his appeal process and despite his legal troubles, he noted the mayor has contributed to the city moving forward this year despite harsh economic times.

Enough with the Republican Hypocrisy!
White Plains, NY, December 22, 2010 -- Westchester County Board of Legislators ChairmanKen Jenkins (D-Yonkers) (pictured left) released a statement pointing out the hypocrisy of Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino(pictured right) who recently vetoed a transfer of $500,000 from the County Attorney’s office to the Board of Legislators operating budget to offset costs of assigning four (4) attorneys to advise the Board on legal matters. Astorino criticized the Board, expressing that the Board was “setting up its own legal fiefdom and patronage positions”.

Back in 2004, in one of his most recognized messages to America, Osama bin Laden, responding to then President George Bush Jr.'s claims that Al Qaeda hates freedom, rhetorically asked, "If so [if Al Qaeda hates freedom], let him [Bush] explain to us why we have not attacked Sweden, for example."

Law Limits County Executive and Legislators to 12 Years in Office
White Plains, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino has signed a law initiated by the Westchester County Board of Legislators (WCBoL) that limits the county executive to three, four-year terms and legislators to six, two-year terms. “The ballot box still remains the best way to express the will of the people with respect to elected officials,” said Astorino. “But term limits provide a check against entrenched interests gaming the system. They also promote opportunities for newcomers to serve the public. It is for these reasons that I have signed this legislation.”
